The international, interdisciplinary project
3 WOODS deals with local and global discourses on the topic of forests. Actors in forestry and forest management are at the center of the participatory project.

During 3 weeks in September 2022 the Canadian artist duo Mia & Eric filmed forest caretakers from the Rhine-Neckar region for an art film with the working title "In a Strange Place" - from forester to mayor, from hunter to beekeeper. Members of citizens' initiatives and volunteer conservationists were also in front of the camera.

In total 65 participants were filmed on
18 recording days in 17 places and forests of
the 3 federal states of the Rhine-Neckar region.

3 WOODS is a series of new, interrelated works by Mia & Eric commissioned by Matchbox, Arctic Arts Festival (NOR), and GIFT (UK), and created in collaboration with the Rhine-Neckar Regional Association. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and Calgary Arts Development.
