Assemblage

Assemblage is a word used in various fields of knowledge. Derived from the French word 'assembler', it means to gather, to join, to accumulate. The idea of performing a scenic theater-dance montage as an assemblage is to bring together excerpts from existing shows and from various authors (such as ready-mades) with compositions from the cast itself. The movement is composed and organized by means of free association, that is, without a predetermined theme.

Among the artists and companies taken as reference are Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and the company Rosas; Alain Platel and the company Les Ballets C de la B; Wim Vandekeybus and the company Ultima Vez; Lloyd Newson and the group DV8 Physical Theatre; Pina Bausch and the company Tanztheater Wuppertal; Meg Stuart and the company Damaged Goods.

Producing copies and re-readings can be a means to look at and understand the past, transit through various time-spaces, relate discourses and, in a specific way, problematize the issues of originality, authenticity and authorship in the field of art.
